The 6th - 8th grade students of Hope Lutheran School participate in an outdoor Eeucation program at Black Rock Retreat in Quarryville, PA (Lancaster County) every fall.

The Outdoor Education Program at Black Rock Retreat offers learners of all ages the opportunity to explore, identify and analyze various parts of the natural world.  The woods, creek, pond, challenge ropes course and nature center all provide a unique learning environment.

Hope students attend classes at Black Rock for three days and two nights.  This retreat not only gives students a wonderful opportunity to learn more about God’s creation; it strengthens their team-building skills which carrys over into the classroom.

You may learn more about the retreat center at

All of our adult volunteers attending the retreat must have Child Abuse and Criminal History Background checks on file in the school office. We also require photocopies of driver’s licenses and proof of car insurance for all adults who drive students.
