Rev. Dr. Richard Mokry, Pastor
Pastor Rich is a native of Rome, NY. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church there in Rome. At the age of 17 Rich was given faith in Christ in a special way. So powerful was this revelation that Rich sensed God’s call on his life to share the meaning of faith with others.
Pastor Rich affirms God's desire to give each of us faith in Him so that we may be “saved” and know the special joy of belonging to Him and serving Him. He studied and earned degrees at Concordia College in NY, New York University, Christ Seminary-Seminex, culminating with the Doctor of Ministry degree from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. He entered into the ministry Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 2001. He has served congregations in North Carolina, Connecticut and New York.
Pastor Rich and his wife, Miriam, were married in 1981. They have been blessed with seven children, both biological and adopted, with Micah, Grace, and Ellie currently living at home in Levittown. Pastor Rich enjoys time with his family, camping, hiking, biking and generally being in the outdoors.
Mr. Mark Shockey, Music Director
Mark Shockey is a graduate of Cairn University, where he received a B. Mus. in piano performance and a B. S. in Bible. He also studied towards an M.M. in Choral Conducting at Westminster Choir College. Mark is currently an Adjunct Faculty member at Chestnut Hill College as the piano teacher and staff accompanist and teaches piano in his own studio. He was the Music Director and Organist at St. Paul’s Reformed Episcopal Church in Oreland PA for 6 years before coming to Hope Lutheran Church in 2010.
At Hope Lutheran Mark is the Music Director, Organist, Choir Director, Handbell Choir Director, and a church Elder.
Mark and his wife, Lauren, are the parents of five daughters, Nora, Claire, Lucy, Eve, and Genny.
Ms. Chavon Wilson, Administrative Assistant
Chavon was born in Philadelphia. For her first 12 years, she and her brothers were raised by their grandmother who was an evangelist in the Rose of Sharon Apostolic Church in Philadelphia. Chavon can’t remember ever not knowing that Jesus died for her. When she was 12 years old she and her brothers moved to Bensalem to live with their father where she later graduated from Bensalem High School.
Before coming to Hope, Chavon worked for over 10 years in office administrative support for both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Most recently she worked with senior citizens helping them connect with the services available to them and following up on their situations.Chavon has a son, Tierre, who is a teenager; a daughter, London, who is in Hope’s School; and a baby, Lawrence Jr. (LJ).
